unhappy birthday (to me)

mrs.perou called to wish me a happy birthday, then burst into tears

stratford, our old staffordshire bull terrier, who was 99 in dog years has been peeing blood all week, falling over and seems to have been in steep decline.

we decided to stop pumping him full of drugs to keep him going and have him put down, today.

dug a shallow grave

and spent a couple of hours saying goodbye to our old, loyal friend.

annabel and belinda came over to say goodbye to stratford too.

mrs.perou and i, held him in our arms as the vet (who had stopped crying) gave stratford an overdose of anaesthetic and he passed straight out.

stratford lies on a bed of wild flowers, at the farm.

sad times indeed.

end of an era.
