i-shoppe
thought we'd beat the christmas panic-buying rush at ye olde tescos arriving way before the tills were open.
we were wrong: it was manic-shopping with people displaying none of season's goodwill to all men (and women) as there was fighting over the last family pack of organic carrots etc…
got in and out unscathed though, just with considerably less in one's bank account.
left everyone else back at farm and risked canterbury for some last minute tings i needed to acquire.
there was a cocoa-cola truck parked in the middle of the pedestrianised shopping area, with small cans of coke being given out to people queuing in an endless long line, reminiscent of people queuing for bread in former USSR.
i refused to photograph this phenomenon.
ostensibly it seemed to be there for people to pose in front of, for selfies, in an unashamed ploy by cocoa-cola to place themselves as THE drink of christmas.
the over-commercialisation of christmas makes me sad.
so many people seem to be missing the point completely.
