in the words of spear of destiny...im leaving on the five train

left the bunker at 4am

met my spanish lady friend at kings X and took the eurostar to paris.

would have been a good time to sleep but i am 6ft 3" (used to be 6ft 4") and i don't fold well into little seats.

arrived delirious.

rushed to chanel and photographed 'philippe mougenot' under the careful scrutiny of the in-house PR director.

apres shoot would have been a good time to go to sleep at the hotel.

but we couldn't check in till 2pm so had to kick about paris in the rain.

LOTS of people harrassing us at every metro entrance or tourist spot: eastern europeans trying to get us to sign petitions frantically: high pressure selling.
couldn't quite work out the scam but reckon it must involve distraction.

'fuck off' seemed to keep them at bay.

one pretended to find a 'valuable' ring maybe we had dropped.
only maria saw her drop it first and gave it a large spanish 'NOOOOOoooooo'
fortunately: when i'm tired i'm quite gullable: this is how i got mugged in NY some years ago

never experienced this jostling before: new to paris(?)

i am wearing my glasses because my eyes are tiny and pink and the bags under my eyes have bags under their eyes (again)

just.want.to.sleep

instead, walk through the park past le louvre to 'place de la concorde', have steak and chips in a bistro on rue saint honore and catch platon's excellent 'greece' mini show at colette (by chance)

don't see a photo-show in years then see four in two days

GET IN

this could have been a daido moriyama homage if i'd made it 3 stops darker and upped the contrast some more...

my spanish lady friend kindly explained what the custom button on my s90 is for and now i can shoot without a bright orange light going off in people's eyes and keep manual focus set all the time.

woohoo.

only took me 2years to get that sorted.

i also worked out how to turn off over exposure warnings on my H4D this week, after months of trying to figure it out.

met up with virginie although i messed up bad because my laptop clock is on GMT and my mobile resets wherever i go.

so we were an hour late for dinner.

virginie took us to 'CRAZY HORSE' which was EXCELLENT: much better than i had anticipated.

very 80's

kind of like a sexy, high budget 'flashdance' for today.

loved it.
