to wolstenbury and beyond

off to the dump with z listening to loud nine inch nails 'head like a hole' and 'copy of a' first thing.

followed by a breakfast and a good game of catch with maximum and z in the front garden,

that lasted till mrs.perou made a remark about my middle aged spread and my need to wear a shirt in public.

sons swam in the pool which i skipped as my shoulder is (still / always) killing me.

put on a shirt and went to the chislet summer fete: highlight of our local social calendar.

mr.bunny and i entered the dog race, we lost but mr.bunny did get to eat some (more) sausages.

he also ate some cheese, some cake and some fried onions.

mr.bunny had a bum-blowout in the perou-mobile on our way through torrential storms, south to the sussex homeland.

incredibly, despite zero visibility on the m23 on the way down, the weather cleared long enough for us (me, sons, geoff, thomas, daniel and mr.bunny) to climb up wolstenbury hill for a sausage (then marshmallow) sizzle and to watch the sun set from the top.

me and geoff used to do this when we were scouts, first, staying out in bright orange bin liners called bivvy bags(?)

later when we were 17 onwards, we used to climb up with friends and tents and get drunk, and sleep over.

we try to get back to wolstenbury hill as often as possible, but for me and sons, it's been a few years...

my old mate geoff, is a day older than me.

whole years pass between us seeing each other, or even talking to each other some years, but it always feels just like usual.

there's some catching up to do on news but we're still as close as we've ever been.

starting to hate this canon s120 but didn't want to risk the 5diii in torrential rain

you can never tell from photographs up wolstenbury hill how steep it is and how high you are.

some parts are VERY steep: it's a good workout.
